Razer Pro|Solutions™ FAQ

Q – What is DPI and why is it important?

A – The encoder DPI (dots per inch) is the most important factor in determining the smoothness and speed of a mouse. DPI measures how many discrete signals the controller chip sends when the mouse moves one inch. As the number of signals sent to the controller increases, mouse resolution becomes finer and the resulting motion smoother.

Q –Ok, it’s important. But how will this mouse improve my precision and accuracy?

A – Think about those times in a program when you were just to the left of a line or anchor point, then just to the right. You couldn’t get just in the middle. With the Razer Pro v1.6™ there are more points on your screen to hit, so the possibility of you being able to hit your target where you want is greatly improved. That’s precision. Accuracy is hitting that target time and again.

Q – Why is this an optical mouse?

A – Most optical mice use so many of its instructions per second to operate the optical camera that there’s little left to support the high demand for resolution required for users of precision software. Over the last several years optical sensors have advanced to the point that they are in a par or have surpassed mechanical mice.

Q – Why can’t I buy the Razer products at professional computer stores?

A – At the present there are a few traditional retailers carrying the Razer Pro v1.6™. As the demand grows from the professional market distribution will become widespread. This is inevitable. We will begin to post the professional distributors and value-added retailers as they come available on Razer Pro|Solutions™.

Q – Why are the buttons so large?

A – The ultra-long micro switch buttons not only enhance the sleek industrial design of the Razer Pro v1.6™, but the real benefit lies in the positioning of your hand as you become more adept in controlling its blazing sensitivity.

Q – It feels funny in my hand.

A – The Razer Pro v1.6™ has a much different design that anything else on the market, and it’s not by accident. Razer's mice takes some getting-used to, but after a while your skills will be toned and tuned beyond anything you thought possible. The way you grip your mouse today and your current sensitivity settings will affect how quickly you adjust. First off, it’s designed to be held with your fingertips, not with a death grip. The ultimate playing position is where the heel of your palm is resting on the table. This way you will have precision control of your mouse. Second, it will take a while to adjust to the sensitivity. But give it some time, once you adjust you’ll find that returning to your old mouse feels like a snail in a horse race.

Q – Does the Razer Pro v1.6™ require a special mouse pad?

A – This is a very good question. In order to obtain the ultimate experience in movement and control, we highly recommend the Razer ProPad™ to be used in tandem with the Razer Pro v1.6™. It’s a amazing performance pairing. After all, you don’t put $30 tires on your Ferrari, so you wouldn’t want a 99¢ mouse pad ruining the performance of your Razer Pro v1.6™.

Q – Can I program all of the buttons?

A – The Razer Pro v1.6™ was designed to be an ergonomically correct ambidextrous mouse. Our award-winning drivers allow you to program each button.
